This Privacy Policy explains how PC Revamp("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you visit our website, book a repair, buy a product, or otherwise deal with us. We are a family-run computer, phone and gadget repair business based in York, and we take your privacy seriously.

The information we collect
We only collect information we actually need to help you. Depending on how you use our site and services, this may include:
- Contact details — your name, email address and phone number when you fill in our booking form, contact form, custom PC build enquiry, or message us on WhatsApp.
- Repair & enquiry details — information about your device, the fault, and any notes you give us so we can quote and carry out the work.
- Order & payment details — what you've bought or the deposit you've paid. Card payments are handled securely by our payment provider (Stripe) — we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical information — basic data your browser sends automatically (such as device type and general location), and information from cookies as described below.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Book, carry out and manage your repair, order or custom build, and keep you updated on its progress.
- Take payments and deposits, and provide receipts.
- Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- Keep records for warranty, accounting and legal purposes.
- Improve our website and services.
- Send you service-related messages, and — only if you've agreed — occasional marketing.
Our legal basis for using your data
Under UK data protection law we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract — to provide the repair, product or service you've asked for.
- Legitimate interests — to run and improve our business, keep records, and prevent fraud.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records (for example for tax).
- Consent — for optional marketing, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as needed:
- Google Firebase / Firestore(Google Cloud) — securely stores our booking, order and enquiry data.
- Stripe — processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments securely.
- Klarna — where you choose "Pay in 3", Klarna handles that agreement directly with you under their own privacy policy.
- Google Workspace and our email delivery provider — to send booking confirmations and reply to you.
- Google Maps and WhatsApp — embedded on our site to show our location and let you message us.
These providers only process your data on our instructions, and some may store data outside the UK — where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, keep it secure, and remember your preferences. Essential cookies are always on because the site can't function without them. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly if you do.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it — to complete your repair or order, honour any warranty, and meet our legal and accounting obligations (financial records are typically kept for up to 6 years). After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
How we keep your data safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure, access-controlled systems and encrypted payment processing. While no online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your data from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Ask us to delete your information, where there's no legal reason for us to keep it.
- Object to or restrict how we use your information.
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, just contact us at info@pc-revamp.com or 01904 373373.
Marketing
We'll only send you marketing if you've asked us to or agreed to it. Every marketing message includes a way to opt out, and you can tell us to stop at any time by emailing info@pc-revamp.com.
Children
Our services are aimed at adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we hold such information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
How to contact us or complain
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at info@pc-revamp.com or on 01904 373373.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
